Guillermo Cruz
G. Cruz holds a degree in Biotechnology at the European University of Madrid (UEM) in 2022. In 2023, he earned a Master’s degree in Science and Chemical Technology from the National University of Distance Education (UNED). Currently, he has begun his PhD studies in Microbiology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). His research career began with an internship at UEM, within the “Applied Biotechnology Group” led by Dr. Jesús Fernández-Lucas. During this time, G. Cruz focused on the expression, purification, biochemical characterization, immobilization, optimization, and targeted mutagenesis of nucleoside deoxyribosyltransferases. Subsequently, he joined the Pharmacy Faculty at Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in the Biotransformation’s Group under Dr. Mª José Hernaiz. There, he gained knowledge in biotransformation, enzyme immobilization, and biochemistry. Currently, G. Cruz holds a pre-doctoral position in the Systems Biotechnology Group, led by Prof. Manuel Ferrer at the Institute of Catalysis, CSIC, as part of a PIF scholarship from the Spanish project PID2023-153370OB-I00.
